We drove for a few more hours last night and finally stopped at a Fairfield Inn. Before we all went to sleep, Mom noted that we all needed to eat more fruits and vegetables this trip. Good, because I love greens. I honestly mean that. I love fruits and vegetables, and breakfast and the promise of delicious fruit was another ten or so hours away. NOOOOOOOO! Luckily, I was able to sleep until dawn. This morning, however, I discovered that the only fruit they had were some mushy bananas. I mean really mushy. They also had sausage gravy with biscuits (Not my particular favorite.), some okay tasting muffins, 2 percent milk (I only drink skim.), some sugary cereals, and Cheese Danishes (Cheese with frosting? Eww!). So much for a delicious fruit smorgasbord.
We are now on our way to Hannibal, Missouri. This is the birthplace of Mark Twain. The great writer himself. The place has been described as a Tom Sawyer theme park. I can't wait. And then we sail on to find fossils of sponges and trilobites in Kansas.
