Mark Twain Cave

Mark Twain Cave definitely lived up to expectations. We saw Jesse James hideout and several places that were actually mentioned in Tom Sawyer. Mark Twain Cave was the cave which Mark Twain used as inspiration for the climactic scene the book, where Tom and Becky found themselves lost in pitch blackness. I found myself lost in pitch blackness a few times when I tried to explore the spooky side tunnels of the the caverns. The walls were covered in names. These were drawn or scratched and ranged from 1820 to 1971. Jesse James even wrote his signature. The whole experience was awesome. We even saw a few bats.

Hannibal itself was amazing. We drove by where Unsinkable Molly Brown was born. And saw Mark Twain's childhood home. We dipped our toes in the Mississippi river and saw a cobblestone street. We even had delicious Barbeque.
